More than two hundred Religious of the Sacred Heart from the United States - Canada Province, along with a few guests, gathered in Saint Louis, Missouri, July 15 - 19. The first days of the gathering focused on a report of the work done in the province since the last assembly in July 2012 and conversations about our priorities for the future. The final two days were devoted to preparing as a body for the Society's general chapter in 2016.

This meeting is both an assembly and a chapter. An assembly is a meeting of the entire province to ensure involvement and shared responsibility. According to the Constitutions of the Society of the Sacred Heart, these occur at least every three years. A chapter is an assembly that includes elections or voting. A provincial chapter, going on now, is for members of one province, at which they select delegates to attend the General Chapter. General Chapters occur every eight years, at which a new superior general is chosen and priorities are set for the coming eight years.

In addition to choosing delegates for the general chapter, the RSCJ of the United States - Canada Province discussed what we will bring to the General Chapter as priorities for our shared future.
