Sister Barbara Dawson, RSCJ, Provincial of the Society of the Sacred Heart United States – Canada Province, was elected on August 2, 2016, as the Superior General of the International Society of the Sacred Heart. Sister Dawson was elected by the Society’s General Chapter currently meeting in Nemi, Italy. The General Chapter is composed of delegates from every province and serves as the highest governing body of the congregation.

Sr. Joan Chittister delivered the talk, 'The God They Never Told Me About' at the Stuart Center in Washington DC, to a group of nearly 150 people.
As the Global Catholic Sisters reported,"Insightful, inspiring, spiritual and deeply thought-provoking talk by Sr. Joan Chittister: 'The God They Never Told Me About' at the Stuart Center in Washington DC -- Science challenges us to rethink our image of God - to think bigger - to embrace a God of Becoming.'"
Following her remarks was an enthusiastic reception and book signing for all those in attendance.
The Society of the Sacred Heart invites you to prayerfully celebrate with Uchenna Oluoha, RSCJ, as she made her First Vows on the Feast of the Sacred Heart today, June 3, 2016, at St. Mary's Basilica, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The vow ceremony was presided over by Archbishop Anthony Mancini. A highlight was the offertory procession in which the Grade Two students from Sacred Heart School accompanied Uche down the aisle with Nigerian singing, drumming and dancing.

Congratulations to Dr. Pauline Scott on receiving a Doctor of Civil Law honorary degree from St. Mary's University, Halifax, NS. Her inspiring speech to the University graduates eloquently referenced the The Goals of Sacred Heart education.
Dr. Scott is the former Principal of Sacred Heart High School in Halifax. At her retirement event in May 2015, more than 500 alumnae, parents and staff turned out to celebrate Ms. Scott’s 45 years as an educator and influential role in the lives of thousands of young women.
