Sunday, April 3, the Sacred Heart family had the opportunity to hear from and pray with Religious of the Sacred Heart from Poland and Hungary via Zoom.
Many of them are working directly with different organizations to support the refugees from Ukraine, trying to bring them love and hope, listening to their stories and their needs.
As the sisters put it, "Our efforts are just a drop of water in the ocean in relation to all the initiatives that have been launched by lay people and different organizations, but the ocean is made up of millions of drops of water and every single effort counts. Here in Poland, we can see that the real force of love is the volunteers and the people on the ground."
During the meeting, the sisters provided some context to better understand the complexity of the problem, and shared something about the refugees in Poland and Hungary as well as their own experiences.
The gathering ended with a prayer, echoing the voices of so many people who are suffering because of this terrible conflict. It was a very moving exchange that compels us to continue to build peace wherever we are. Let us all strengthen our prayers. May the Spirit of compassion embrace all those who are living in fear.
