In early May 2024, three young adults from Poland joined Urszula Krajewska, RSCJ, to walk El Camino de Santiago (The Way of St. James) spiritual pilgrimage in Spain. The group walked a portion of the Camino route called the Camino Portugues, and walked for one week from the city of Tui in northwest Spain to the tomb of St. James within the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

This trip was sponsored by SacredHeartDNA, a young adult ministry initiative of the Society of the Sacred Heart, United States – Canada Province.

Reflection from Joanna "Asia" Bąkowska

When I was getting ready for this trip, I heard many times "this road will change your life", "extraordinary things happen there." I was wondering how walking 100+ km, in the heat or rain, with aching legs and a heavy backpack, was going to change my life. But just as sometimes life can change in a split second, these few days were a collection of small moments. Experiencing the journey, meeting people, admiring God's creation, being with Him, day after day, God's love crept into my heart despite fatigue and difficulties. And now, after completing this Camino, I can confidently say that yes, this time changed my life. But the road has only just begun. And I can enter it full of hope and strength, knowing that just as God led me through el Camino, he will lead me further.
