Sunday, December 10, 2023, Houston Associates and Religious of the Sacred Heart gathered in the chapel at Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart for beautiful and mindful experience called “Finding Rest in Christ: Associates Advent Retreat.”
We shared in prayer, reflection, conversation, and joyful singing as we took a moment to pause in this busy season to embrace the opportunity to “Find Rest in Christ.” 'The Seven Types of Christian Rest' found in Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith's Recover Your Life, Renew Your Energy, Restore Your Sanity was a centerpiece of our conversation.
We closed the retreat with a prayer we'd like to share with the entire Sacred Heart community:
Lord Jesus,
Master of both the light and darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas.
We who have so much to do and seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.
We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.
We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.
We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.
We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light.
To you we say, “Come Lord Jesus!”
