A national association, the Network of Sacred Heart Schools has 22 full member schools who are independent but historically related and who share a commitment to the vision expressed mored than 200 years ago by St. Madeleine Sophie Barat, founder of the Society of the Sacred Heart. In the Goals and Criteria of 1990, the document that defines the vision of Sacred Heart education in the United States today, Sacred Heart educators commit themselves to educate to:

  • a personal and active faith in God (Goal 1)
  • a deep respect for intellectual values (Goal 2)
  • a social awareness that impels to action (Goal 3)
  • the building of community as a Christian value (Goal 4)
  • personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom (Goal 5)

Through its members, the Network serves students in grades Pre-Kindergarten - 12, faculty, staff and other members of its community. The Network provides services and programs, including:

  • trustee education,
  • student summer service opportunities
  • national conferences and workshops for faculty and staff on educational and professional topics.

Mission

Guided by the global vision of St. Madeleine Sophie Barat, the Network of Sacred Heart Schools is an association of Catholic independent schools and the United States Province of the Society of the Sacred Heart, for the purpose of advancing the educational mission of the Society. The Network provides services and programs that promote and stimulate creative education and leadership framed by the Goals and Criteria for Sacred Heart Schools in the United States.
