Sheila Hammond, RSCJ, honored with ACPE 2020 Distinguished Service Award

August 5, 2020

Sheila Hammond, RSCJ

The Society of the Sacred Heart, United States – Canada (USC) Province is pleased to announce that Provincial Sheila Hammond, RSCJ, is being honored with the ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care & Education 2020 Distinguished Service Award. This award is ACPE’s highest recognition bestowed upon members and is awarded for long, outstanding service and leadership to the association.

ACPE is the premier, Department of Education recognized organization that provides the highest quality Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) programs for spiritual care professionals of any faith and in any setting.

Sister Hammond has exemplified a dedicated career of service. Among other roles, she has held various leadership positions for ACPE and National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC). She has served on the Professional Ethics Commission, as ACPE North East Regional Chair, on the Standards Committee, the Board of Representatives, the NACC Certification Commission and the ACPE Board of Directors.

Sister Hammond’s ACPE certification continues to serve her well in her role as Provincial/CEO of the USC Province, where her responsibilities require personal pastoral care, navigating issues of grief and loss, and reflection on experience to plan and prepare for an unknown future.

Sister Hammond will be honored in a virtual ceremony on August 6, 2020.
