Every five years since 1983, the Potawatomi have organized a caravan to retrace the Trail of Death. They stop at many of the places of encampment to do ceremonies and to remember the dead. Since 2018 is the bicentennial of Saint Rose Philippine’s arrival in the United States in 1818, the Religious of the Sacred Heart asked to join the Potawatomi on their caravan as part of our own remembering of Saint Philippine and our mission to the native peoples.

Saturday, September 29, 2018, at noon was a special moment in the RSCJ Cemetery in Lake Forest, Illinois.
What had been a gloomy, cold day suddenly became sunlit and beautiful as 64 people gathered to bless the refurbished cemetery of 154 RSCJ who served Chicago and Lake Forest beginning in 1856.

Sunday, September 23, was full of emotions as descendants of known enslaved persons by the Society of the Sacred Heart gathered at St. Charles Borromeo Church and Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, Louisiana, to remember and honor their ancestors.

On September 18, 2018, St. Philomena School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, formally entered the application process to become a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools in the United States and Canada.
The Faithful Companions of Jesus (fcJ), an international order of Roman Catholic sisters living and ministering in Asia, Australia, Europe and the Americas with headquarters in England, opened St. Philomena School in 1953. While the fcJ sisters operate schools internationally, St. Philomena School is their only educational ministry in the United States.

On Friday, September 14, 2018 students, faculty, parents, alumnae/i, RSCJ and friends of the Sacred Heart gathered at the Academy of the Sacred Heart (ASH) in St. Charles, Missouri, to celebrate Mass in honor of its 200th anniversary.

Forty-five students, faculty and staff who represent six of the seven Sacred Heart schools in France arrived in St. Louis on September 12, 2018, in order to participate in the Sacred Heart Global Service Day and explore where Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne lived and worked.

Friday, August 10, sisters from all over the country, including several RSCJ, gathered at the Old Courthouse in St. Louis, Missouri, to participate in the action "Being in Communion: Standing Against Racism." This action was a part of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) Assembly and included song and several minutes of silence and prayer.
