The objective of Lent is transformation, and the word in scripture used for this kind of transformation is metanoia. While the Greek word is typically translated as “repentance,” the word implies regret or remorse, and a decision to move forward to a space where one experiences a change in one's very core.

The Eucharist lies at the very Heart of the Society of the Sacred Heart's foundation and mission. Madeleine Sophie Barat recalled her inspiration in founding the Society: That is it, I said to myself, as I was praying before a lonely tabernacle: we must dedicate ourselves to the education of young people; renew in souls the solid foundations of a living faith in the Blessed Sacrament. We will raise up a multitude of adorers from all the nations.
The theme of Catholic Sisters Week (March 8-14) 2022 was “Caring for Earth, Caring for You.” Inspired by the calls from Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Sí, each video below highlights a Religious of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ) and an aspect of or insight into her/her community's relationship with Creation.
We begin this Season of Lent with a world torn by increasing violence and war. Last Sunday, Pope Francis urged all to make Ash Wednesday a day of prayer and fasting for peace in Ukraine.
Each of us, I believe, at some moment in our lives, can find ourselves among the wheat and chaff. At some moment, we feel ourselves a barren bush in the desert and at other times a tree planted beside the waters near the stream.

On February 2, 2022, the General Council of the Society of the Sacred Heart officially welcomed to Rome nine Religious of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ) in their final stage of formation, known as Probation.
