In today’s Gospel Jesus sees Nicodemus and acknowledges the love he holds for him. God sees each one of us as Nicodemus. Why is it so hard to imagine that God loves me? Is that possible? I am flawed, and I sin. I make mistakes, and I hurt people.

We are taught service is with our hands – when we are doing things. Whether that’s writing a check, giving clothing donations, time collecting non-perishable items for a nonprofit or gathering an event group the last Saturday of the month to package boxes of household products and taking time to deliver said packages to a car trunk or steps of a family home.
We’ve been invited to go on a trip. Yes, a trip! Lent is a journey and today’s Gospel takes us on a trip. I remember when our family took trips and used a “AAA Triptik” to plot our way. Now, we’ve got Google maps or similar. However, nowadays we aren’t often “going” anywhere.
