This past July, Michele Rumer joined the administrative staff of the Society of the Sacred Heart United States – Canada Province as the new medical benefits and finance assistant. Michele had been working for the province in a temporary capacity since April of this year.

In 2018, the Society of the Sacred Heart organized a Global Service Day in honor of Rose Philippine Duchesne's arrival in North America in 1818. It was a concrete experience of how it is possible to create “a wave of grace around the world.”

A historic moment unfolded at Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart as the Duchesne Chapel was dedicated, and its brand-new altar was blessed. This significant event, held during the school's annual Alumnae Reunion Weekend, marks a milestone in the school's history.
Duchesne welcomed several distinguished guests, including Religious of the Sacred Heart Sisters Suzanne Cooke, Sheila Hammond, Lucy Hayes, and Nancy Kehoe.

“Belong & Act as One: Discovering our SacredHeartDNA” is the story of a great adventure; a journey of courage, of will, and above all, of love.
Directed by the SacredHeartDNA program, the “Belong and Act as One” event unfolded in a transformative journey across the picturesque cities of Rome and Lisbon, where participants explored their shared heritage, beliefs and dreams as members of the Sacred Heart family.

In anticipation of the international World Youth Day (WYD) Lisbon 2023 with Pope Francis, 24 young people connected to the Society of the Sacred Heart and five Religious of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ) arrived in Rome to begin the inaugural SacredHeartDNA program: “Belong and Act as One: Discovering Our SacredHeartDNA.”

On Tuesday, July 11, Society of the Sacred Heart partners in mission, Associates, and Religious of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ) from across the United States – Canada (USC) Province as well as from the Province of Mexico met virtually for the 2023 USC Provincial Assembly.

Maria Cimperman, RSCJ, has been invited to attend the Synod on Synodality in October 2023 in Rome as a non-voting expert. She will be one of only two non-voting experts from the United States, one of 57 worldwide.

Associated Alumnae & Alumni of the Sacred Heart (AASH) named Mary Margaret “Peggy” McDonnell, RSCJ, honoree of the 2023 Woman of Conscience Award. Sister McDonnell was honored at the 44th AASH National Conference held this year in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, May 18-20.
