Catherine Collins, RSCJ: (1937–2010) Innovator with Heart and Vision

This book explores the life of Catherine Collins, RSCJ, founder of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools and the Center for Educational Design and Communication (CEDC) in Washington, D.C. “Kit,” as she was called, was a visionary, creative and influential educator. Schools of the Sacred Heart (now 25 total in the United States and Canada) owe the articulation of their educational philosophy, Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools, to her initiative.

Clinging to the top of the ridge

Hiking the Esker,
I am aware of living my life clinging to the edge of a ridge.
It’s a hard reality to recognize, much less admit out loud.

I choose to keep myself on the flat of that ridge
But I can’t always do it on my own.

We turn to you, Mary, our Mother.
Help now as we pray with the people of Haiti.

Our Mother of Sorrows, with strength from above you stood by the cross, sharing in the sufferings of Jesus, and with tender care you bore Him in your arms, mourning and weeping.

United States – Canada Province condemns violence against Asians

Dear Members of the Sacred Heart Community,

Last Tuesday we were heart-broken to learn of the deadly shootings in Georgia. Eight people were killed, and six of them were Asian women. We mourn the loss of each person, and we condemn all violence committed against Asians, especially Asian women.

Fourth Sunday of Lent reflection

In today’s Gospel Jesus sees Nicodemus and acknowledges the love he holds for him. God sees each one of us as Nicodemus. Why is it so hard to imagine that God loves me? Is that possible? I am flawed, and I sin. I make mistakes, and I hurt people.
